Nyandu Spark Initiative (NSI) is a survivor-led, South Sudanese-rooted NGO founded by Athieng Riakbai Bil, a globally recognized Child Protection and Gender Specialist, Mental Health Advocate, and Community Builder. Her journey—from surviving war, displacement, and forced marriage to becoming a Chevening Scholar and global humanitarian professional—has inspired a movement that restores dignity, fosters healing, and transforms communities.
The name Nyandu, meaning “your daughter,” was bestowed by a village elder upon a cow gifted by Athieng to her mother. In Dinka tradition, it symbolizes legacy, protection, and empowerment. NSI channels this spirit into girl-led advocacy, trauma-informed recovery, inclusive education, civic leadership, youth innovation, and climate resilience.
