Founded by Athieng Riakbai Bil, a globally recognized Child Protection and Gender Specialist, NSI channels lived experience into girl-led advocacy, trauma-informed programming, and community resilience. The name “Nyandu,” meaning “your daughter” in Dinka, reflects our commitment to legacy, protection, and empowerment.
In August 2025, NSI formally launched the Restoring Hope Initiative in partnership with Africa Initiative for Rural Development (AIRD), marking its emergence as a national force in survivor led programming.
The initiative received strategic endorsements from the DDR Commission, Parliament of South Sudan, medical and education sectors, and over 160 participants, affirming NSI’s role in rehabilitating gang-involved youth, supporting survivors of GBV, and promoting civic engagement.
NSI’s mission aligns with key national, regional, and global frameworks:
Our Executive Team comprises professionals with expertise in mental health, education, civic engagement, and financial management. The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight in gender equity, peacebuilding, and youth advocacy, ensuring governance excellence and mission fidelity.
